When do you first meet castiel

Charlie has killed one of the family members before calling Dean and Sam for help when she is injured from a bullet wound. The Stynes find them at the cabin and attack. Charlie fights off and kills another member of the Stynes as Sam throws the text on the fire. The best part of this episode is that Charlie finally gets to meet Castiel.

One thing is for sure. Needing some space, Charlie goes to get some air and to work on her own in her motel room. The change of scenery must have been what she needed because Charlie manages to break part of the codex. But the happiness is short-lived. This is Supernatural , after all.

Eldon from the Styne family shows up and wants the book, so she calls the Winchesters to tell them where she is. The boys jump into the Impala and race to her.

As they are on their way, Charlie locks herself in the bathroom with her tablet, and she emails what she was able to solve.

As Eldon breaks into the bathroom, Charlie slowly backs up with her knife, preparing to fight. They discover Charlie, lying in the bathtub, bloody. Charlie was brutally stabbed multiple times by Eldon.

Charlie Bradbury, IT, geek, and hunter, is dead. Charlie brought light to the world around her and did not deserve to go out the way she did. It has and will remain a sore spot in the fandom.

In season 13, when Dean and Ketch go to the Apocalypse Universe to find Mary, they come across some angels about to kill some resistance members. When Dean sees one of the people they captured, he is shocked. Meanwhile, the fandom freaked out, seeing Felicia Day on our screens again as an AU version of Charlie is revealed. They rescue her, and while walking back to the rift, Dean tells her about his Charlie. The AU Charlie is hardened from fighting in the war, losing the woman she loves, and watching people she cares about die.

Gone is the carefree Charlie we are familiar with. AU Charlie is a soldier and a warrior. It is revealed that Rowena and Charlie are on a road trip.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall on that adventure; you know they got up to no good. The last time we see AU Charlie is when she calls Sam for help on a case. They spend a lot of time together in a truck doing a stakeout. Charlie tells him more about her old life before the Angel War and that after this case, she wants to retire and live her life, not fight for it.

I truly hope she gets the recognition, tribute, and sendoff that her character deserves. This site uses Akismet to reduce spam. Learn how your comment data is processed. Sign in. As an angel , experiencing Castiel's true form will result in blindness, deafness, or even death, as the appearance of his natural visage is so overwhelming that it is capable of burning human or demon eyes from their sockets as seen in Lazarus Rising , as he said to Dean, " My true form.

It can be overwhelming to humans and so can my real voice. Although his true form has never been seen, it is known that he has two feathered wings. When Castiel becomes a seraph, he describes himself to Samuel Campbell as a "multidimensional wavelength of celestial intent" [6] and his true form is " approximately the size of your Chrysler Building " [14] in height.

As he was promoted to a seraph, it stands to reason his true form has changed to one of a seraph's. It is presumed to be very tremendous and terrifying, as the mere image of it was enough to cause Crowley to flee in fear of being smited.

In addition, Castiel has been referred to as being attractive on more than one occasion, both in his human vessel and his true angelic form. One female demon , while talking with Crowley, once instantly said Castiel was, as she said in her words, hot, as she also said, " I mean, human Castiel? But, feathered Castiel? Though he has since regained the remnants of his grace and been restored to full power, his wings are broken. For humans, they see him as the appearance of his vessel, Jimmy Novak , who is a handsome man of average height in his thirties.

He sports a pair of dress shoes, a black suit, a buttoned white-striped dress shirt, and loosened blue necktie accentuated by a beige trench coat. Although he has a very dire demeanor, his outward appearance radiates a natural calm and serenity which makes conversation easy and direct. Since his third resurrection, his appearance has changed. He lost his trench coat upon his third death and when he became amnesic, he wore different clothes. Upon regaining his memories, Dean gave him back his trench coat, but he still wore Emmanuel's clothes until he became insane.

While insane he wore his trench coat and hospital scrubs. While in Purgatory he retained the same outfit, albeit extremely dirty and torn off. Castiel also grew a beard and his hair became messier. After returning from the monster realm, Castiel returned to his original appearance. He kept this until he lost his grace and became human. While he initially kept his usual clothes, they became dirty and he was unable to clean them and get food and water so he abandoned the trench coat and suit and took to wearing more casual human clothes, though he did wear a suit when he pretended to be an FBI agent.

After becoming an angel again, Castiel donned a new suit and trench coat, albeit not as accented as his previous trench, nor as long. He at first didn't wear a tie like before, but after a suggestion from Claire Novak that he looked better in a tie, Castiel donned the blue striped tie from his FBI suit and continued to wear it in the next seasons.

As of Season 13, Castiel returns to his classic attire of seasons with a new black suit, and trench coat. His tie is once again a single shade of blue. In , Castiel possessed a female vessel and dressed as a woman from that era. Notably, he wore a coat very similar to the trench coat he wore in his first appearance.

It is safe to say that, like most angels, Castiel does prefer to retain his vessel's original appearance and clothing. He does not seem to have a high fashion sense, preferring neatness over beauty. Like most angels , Castiel expresses little to no emotion, which creates flaws and complexities in his persona. Despite this, he does not display the blank apathy or mocking superiority that seem to characterize angels such as Uriel or Lucifer.

His lack of emotion and understanding of human behavior such as sarcasm has led to several humorous situations throughout the show, and has occasionally gotten him into trouble with humans, ultimately leaving Dean or Sam to amend the situation.

He does, however, become close friends with the brothers, who encourage him to be kinder, more caring and more selfless. Unlike some of his brethren, Castiel still has faith in God , though not to the zealot-like extent displayed by Michael. While he admits he may not always understand what God wants and may question his reasoning, Castiel always follows his father to the best of his abilities.

Anna Milton and Lucifer have both displayed this attitude, with Anna calling him a hypocrite for refusing to rebel in order to gain more freedom.

Castiel briefly loses this faith after Joshua reveals that God doesn't care and falls into a depression for some time. However, when God resurrects him for a second time, his faith returns. Castiel frequently exhibits what could be referred to as affection towards Dean, and seems to express regret, hesitance, and anger at several points. Being around the Winchesters, paired with his experiences in the War, have taught Castiel several "tricks" that have helped him during the show. While not possessing free will in the same sense as a human, Castiel has learned how to bend the rules at times, like in season 4.

He was also able to distract Meg long enough to use her. This was similar to a trick Uriel performed to free Alastair , Castiel used Meg for his trick to free himself, from a ring of holy fire Abandon All Hope.

It is also possible he learned from the demon Crowley to wipe out loyalists of his adversary, Raphael. Castiel also considers himself to be the Winchester's personal guardian angel. When Castiel is brought back from the dead after Lucifer kills him, his personality begins to shift. During Season 6 , Castiel becomes more prideful. It is because of this pride that Castiel makes a deal with Crowley , and starts the civil war in heaven.

During this time Castiel showed extremely high ambition, doing everything he could to open the door of Purgatory. He also displayed his intelligence, being capable of tricking Dean, Sam, Raphael, and even Crowley well known as a crafty trickster. Upon absorbing the souls, Castiel's hubris grew to the extent that he claimed to be the new God. It was later revealed that others, such as Death , thought of him only as a mutated angel. Previously acting kind, assuring, and fierce at times, Castiel had now become almost purely cold and absolute in his decisions.

This is displayed when he kills Raphael without any second thoughts. Mere seconds later, he demanded that Dean, Bobby, and Sam kneel before him and be by his side. Castiel claimed he would destroy them if they forgot their place and rose up against him. However, he still had some lingering affection for them, trusting them enough to leave them alone. They soon realized that he was out of control and that being influenced by the Leviathans.

Later, when Castiel returns to his original personality, he feels incredibly guilty and goes back to his friends for help. Knowing Dean is furious with him for breaking Sam's wall , Castiel expresses true remorse for his actions and swears to do all he can to make up for what he did. After his third resurrection, Castiel lost his memories and took on a more human personality, though he was still more distant than normal humans. He expressed affection for his wife Daphne Allen , and retained his desire to help people as shown by the fact that when he rediscovered his healing powers, he used them to heal people in need, also showing great compassion.

While shocked by the existence of demons, he took it relatively well once it was explained to him. He was perceptive enough to realize that Dean couldn't forgive "Cass" for what he had done and felt betrayed and that he himself was the Cass mentioned after overhearing some of Dean's conversation with Meg. In his human mindset, he had no idea of what he was capable of and was nervous with the idea of using his powers to kill demons when he had no idea how.

However, despite this, he displayed courage in agreeing to try and seemed to still possess an instinctual knowledge of how to use them as he quickly figured out what to do. After recovering his memories, Castiel's normal personality more or less returned, and he was overcome with guilt over what he had done, how many he had killed, and for releasing the Leviathans, even questioning why he was still alive.

Following his awakening, his personality was greatly modified, due to a combination of what he had taken from Sam and his own guilt. It made him inattentive, overly calm, uncaring and seemingly dim.

He also became a pacifist, and refused to fight, even when being attacked, as well as being overly optimistic, perceiving many negative things in a positive way. During this time he developed a unique relationship with Meg, a demon, as she was his caretaker during his insanity.

He showed open attraction to her, calling her a "thorny beauty". Although Meg doesn't return the feelings at the start, a year later she openly flirts with Castiel, and Castiel seemingly returns the attraction.

In Survival of the Fittest , Castiel explains that his pacifism comes from being afraid of causing more damage with his actions. However, he agrees to break his pacifism and help stop the Leviathans, possibly out of loyalty to Dean as he agrees after Dean says he'll likely die trying to stop them.

After agreeing, he doesn't hesitate to fight, helping to dispatch Royce and getting in front of Dean to protect him from Dick Roman and later restraining the Leviathan leader so Dean can kill him.

Castiel also displays a bleak view on his resurrections: instead of believing it to be a gift from God for his service, he now sees his resurrections as punishment for his actions, telling Dean "I see now it's a punishment resurrection, it gets worse every time. After he and Dean were sent to Purgatory, his sanity and original personality was restored, although he himself states nobody could ever be sure if he is indeed sane.

Following his return in A Little Slice of Kevin , Castiel displayed a slightly more laid-back personality and a much less detached persona and showed human emotions as well as a taste for human things, as he commented how he missed watching TV. He has also developed a strong desire for penitence, looking for anyway possible to redeem himself for the devastation he caused Heaven and his fellow angels.

Since becoming human briefly, Castiel has become more human. He expresses more of an appreciation for human things and develops more human emotions such as romantic attraction. He also became less serious, drinking a beer with Sam and Dean and joking around.

Afterwards, Castiel comes to Dean's hospital, where Sam is sitting beside his brother's bedside. Sam demands Castiel get in there and heal Dean. Castiel tells Sam he can't. Sam argues that Castiel and Uriel are the ones who put Dean in there, all because they can't keep a simple devil's trap together.

Castiel apologizes to Sam, unable to explain what happened. Sam snaps at Castiel, saying that making Dean torture again was for nothing. It's not the demons, but something else. Castiel brings up the possibility that Alastair was lying, but Sam shoots it down. Castiel believes Sam is right about this and finds it was Uriel who is killed by Anna. They don't see each other much after that. During The Rapture , they saw each other again and Castiel was disgusted to see Sam consuming demon blood and using his powers.

Castiel also aids Dean to get to Sam, so Dean can stop the breaking of the final seal. Castiel soon rebelled to help Dean in stopping Sam from killing Lilith , who was the last seal to Lucifer's Cage. However, the attempt was a failure. In this season, Castiel has rebelled against Heaven and now sides with the Winchesters.

Sam and Castiel's friendship really develops and Sam starts to address Castiel as Cass just like Dean does. Castiel was killed by Raphael off-screen, Sam was saddened at the death of his friend before it turns out Castiel has been resurrected by and rebelled against heaven and returns in Sympathy for the Devil and saves Sam and Dean from Zachariah.

Castiel forces his brother to put the boys "back together" and leave. After Zachariah complied, Castiel brands Sam's and Dean's ribs with Enochian sigils so no angel including himself , can find them. Before Castiel leaves, Sam asks him how is he alive. Castiel disappears before giving them an answer. Sam argues that once Jesse knows the truth, he will stop hurting people. Castiel points out that Sam didn't, and leaves.

This comments hurts Sam due to his guilt about drinking demon blood. During Changing Channels , Castiel appeared to the Winchesters in the television world and stated he searched for Sam and Dean while they were dealing with The Trickster. Sam was worried when Castiel was teleported by the latter. When Castiel returned battered and bloodied, Sam questioned him on his condition as Castiel tried to warn him about the threat. After the trickster appeared, he flung Castiel away and banished him once he greeted him and Sam was angry at this though noticed the trickster knew Cass.

When he and Dean got fooled by the trickster, Sam realized Castiel's warning and the trickster's familiarity was a sign that the latter was angel. After their suspicions were confirmed with the trickster being the archangel Gabriel , Sam watched as Dean forced Gabriel to bring Castiel back after threatening to pour holy oil on him when he was trapped in a ring of holy fire.

Gabriel complied and Sam was relieved when Castiel confirmed he was fine. In The Song Remains the Same , Castiel refuses to let Anna kill Sam, even declaring that he was his friend as Anna acknowledged his new change towards the brothers. Sam looked to Castiel to see if Anna's plan would work, though Castiel disagreed. Castiel also allowed Sam and Dean to time travel with him to save their parents from the rogue angel.

Sam was worried at the pain it caused Cass and let him rest. At the end, Anna is killed by Michael and the Winchesters are returned to their time. Sam once again helps Cass after he returns to present in his weakened state. They find Joshua and find out that God had help them before by saving them and resurrecting Cass as well learning he knows about Earth 's problems but simply doesn't feel he should get involved.

This revelation hurts Castiel, who renounces his faith in God and disappears. When Sam figures something is not right in a town, he calls Castiel in for help 99 Problems. When Castiel shows up drunk, he tells Sam he finds his voice grating. Sam is shocked after he notices Castiel is drunk and asks what happened to Castiel. Castiel answers he found a liquor store and "drank it". Sam attempts to help Castiel from wobbling, and asks if he's okay.

Castiel leans over and tells Sam not to ask stupid questions. Sam tells Castiel about the demon attacks around town and the "prophet" Leah Gideon.

Castiel tells Sam that she is no prophet because all the names of the prophets are seared into Castiel's brain , and then Sam asks then what Leah is. Castiel later reveal that "Leah" is actually the Whore of Babylon. When Castiel brings a weapon to kill her, he tells them that only a true servant of God can use it to kill her. Castiel continues on by saying he can't do it, and, neither can Sam since he's an abomination because of the demon blood.

Sam looks slightly hurt, but understands. Castiel uses his powers to send Dean to Bobby's house. Like Sam, Castiel is angry at Dean for giving up, so they both work together to make sure Dean doesn't leave Bobby's. Castiel also agrees with Sam questions about the angels' change in mind to Adam Milligan the Winchesters' half-brother.

When Dean does escape, Castiel brings Dean back unconscious. Sam asks Castiel what happened and Castiel answers "Me". Later on, Sam decides to bring Dean along on a mission to save Adam, despite Castiel not wanting to Dean to come along. Castiel can't understand Sam's blind faith in Dean.

As the final showdown comes along, Castiel comes once again to aid the Winchesters. Later on, Cass goes over Sam's plan to defeat Lucifer but warns him of the repercussions should he fail. Castiel later rescues Sam from being strangled to death by a zombie.

Castiel is amazed how useful guns can be. Then in Swan Song , Castiel says an awkward goodbye to Sam, as Sam prepares to have an internal battle with Lucifer in his head. After Sam trapped Lucifer and Michael into hell at the cost of himself , Castiel who was resurrected and promoted to Seraphim used his new powers to successfully raise Sam from Lucifer's cage.

Unfortunately, Sam's soul was left in the cage. After Sam returned from Hell, he called Castiel many times for on how he returned, but Castiel never answered him, so Sam stopped calling. Sam continues by saying that he's been calling Castiel all this time and Castiel only comes when Dean calls him. Sam continues by asking if Castiel likes Dean more. Castiel answers by saying he and Dean share a more profound bond.

Castiel also withholds his involvement in Sam's return by telling Sam he has no idea who brought Sam back from the cage, or why. When Sam tries to get more information, Castiel angrily replies "What part of I don't know escapes your understanding? Castiel examining Sam in Family Matters.

In Family Matters , Castiel is trying to figure out what is wrong with Sam. Castiel starts asking Sam questions, and finishes with asking how Sam feels emotionally. Sam answers he doesn't know. Castiel tries to feel Sam's soul, only to find out Sam doesn't have one. Sam looks shocked at this discovery. Castiel tells Dean whoever brought Sam back, left his soul behind.

When Dean asks if "Sam" is still even Sam, Castiel answers that it is an interesting philosophical question. Castiel continues to help in the quest for Sam's soul in Caged Heat. Although he doesn't come right away. Sam tricks Castiel into coming down and calls Castiel an idiot for believing his lie.

Sam asks Castiel to help, but Castiel refuses due to the civil war. Sam continues by saying Castiel owes him and if Castiel doesn't help, Sam will find a way to kill Castiel pointing out the extra time to do so since Soulless Sam doesn't sleep. Castiel is not fazed even daring him to try in a threatening way but he agrees to help.

Later on, Castiel seemingly threatens Crowley to get Sam's soul back, but when Crowley says he can't, Castiel toasts Crowley's bones.

Castiel reassures Sam they will find another way to get Sam's soul back. Castiel tells Dean that Sam's soul felt like it had been skinned alive. Later on in the episode, Sam awakes and recalls Castiel being killed while Lucifer possessed him but Dean and Bobby tell him he was resurrected, to his relief.

Sam calls Castiel and he appears while telling Sam its good to see him alive and attempts to hug Sam who sits down to avoid it. Sam tells Castiel he would hug Castiel, but it would be awkward. Sam goes on to talk about how its been a crazy year and how he just talked to Bobby about it.

Castiel tells Sam he's surprised Sam even survived. Castiel asks Sam how it feels as Sam looks confused. Castiel explains, "to have your soul back". Sam is shocked to hear this news and plays along so he can get more details from Castiel about what really happened.

Sam then learns from the angel that he returned from the cage but without his soul for a full year. After hunting Eve down, Sam plus Bobby begin to have suspicions about Castiel. Castiel still protects Sam and Dean despite these doubts. Then when Castiel's betrayal comes to light, they trap Castiel in a ring of holy fire.

In there, Castiel tries to maintain his loyalty to them even revealing that he was the one who brought Sam back from the cage. Though surprised, Sam asks Castiel if he meant to bring Sam back soulless. Castiel tells Sam he didn't mean to he didn't even know until Family Matters.

Castiel destroys the wall in Sam's mind. Although Castiel doesn't show himself, he answers Sam's prayer. In order to detour Dean, he breaks down the wall inside Sam's mind and Sam goes into a coma. Castiel says he'll save Sam, only if they back off.
